Tebow Abortion Commercial: Pro-Choice's Perfect Counter

Pro-choice groups missed a golden opportunity when they demanded that CBS refuse to air a Pro-Life Super Bowl ad featuring University of Florida quarterback Tim Tebow. It would have been far more effective for advocates of "abortion rights" to make a parallel ad extolling the virtues of abortion.

Imagine a woman the age of Tebow's mom speaking eloquently about the many positive effects on her life that resulted from her decision to have an abortion in the late 1980's. How enormously powerful it would be to hear her talk about these issues:

The fact that the abortion freed her to complete her education and start a career without a care in the world.
The Pro-choice woman could talk about how the abortion improved her relationship with the boyfriend or husband who "fathered" the "fetus." (Maybe "fathered" is not the right word. Fertilized? Inseminated? I'm still searching)
She could discuss the pride she felt about asserting her dominion over her own body; the pride of exercising her right to choose to end the development of the human embryo that had mistakenly implanted itself into her womb.
The woman who had the abortion could share the sense of maturity and competence she derived from having taken responsibility for "solving her problem" rather than bringing an unwanted child into the world.
She could tell the whole country about the relief she enjoyed when she realized that she would not have to tell her family that she was pregnant. (This, of course, would require a woman who had eventually revealed the abortion to her family. But finding such a woman should not be difficult given the pride she feels over exercising her right to choose and demonstrating the courage of her convictions.)

Given the number of routine abortions that have been legally performed in the U.S. over the past 37 years, there must be hundreds of thousands of women who would be eager to proclaim their first-hand experience of the many blessings of abortion. And one would think that pro-choice advocates could easily find many of them.

But it's looking like I may well be wrong. With each day that passes without such a Counter-Tebow ad, it appears more and more likely that there are very few women who feel their decision to abort turned out to be a healthy choice.
